Goulds Turkeys live on the property and roost every night in the Sycamore trees near the Cowboy Cabin.

White Eared Hummingbird. Southern Arizona has more hummingbirds than anywhere else in North America and is known as the hummingbird capitol of the nation.

Elf Owl. A pair of Elf Owls have taken up residence in a Sycamore tree near Cowboy Cabin.

Annas Hummingbird. Hummingbirds migrate through the Huachuca Mountains, but some species call Ramsey Canyon home all year round. This website has an abundance of useful information - https://sabo.org/hummingbirds/hummingbird-faq/

Rivoli Hummingbird. Also known as the Magnificent Hummingbird starting in the 1980s but now it is back being called the Rivoli, is a large hummingbird that is aptly named for its eye-catching plumage. The species is one of numerous hummingbird species that are endemic to southern Arizona. It was named the Rivoli Hummingbird to honor the Duke of Rivoli. There are lots of these to enjoy at Ramsey Canyon Cabins.

Coopers Hawk. A pair have nested on the property and are amazing to watch fly through the trees on the property.

Canyon Lizard, there are several of these that live on the property at Ramsey Canyon. You will also see Alligator Lizards, they have very short limbs, don't mistake them for a snake!

The Coues Whitetail Deer a Southwest subspecies of the common Eastern Whitetail Deer, is an elfin deer, standing 32-34 inches at the shoulder and seldom exceeding 100 pounds. They are very gentle and so much fun to watch.

Ramsey Canyon Creek flowing through the property. The water brings in all kinds of wildlife including whitetail deer, javelina, racoons, skunks and coatimundi to name a few.

The Ramsey Canyon Preserve is .3 miles up the road. If you prefer not to walk, we would be more than happy to drive you on our shuttle if you don't want to leave your car in their parking lot. The Ramsey Canyon Preserve has numerous hiking trails, sitting places, and learning opportunities for everyone, its such an amazing place to explore! Entrance and tree lined driveway down to the Hummingbird Cabin. You will drive by several Manzanita trees. Manzanita trees and shrubs are native to western North America. They are known for their orange to red smooth bark, and the unique and sometimes twisted shapes that they grow into. Unfortunately the species that grows here in Ramsey Canyon has an oil in it that acts as a fire accelerant so you can not plant them.

Driving up Ramsey Canyon road to Ramsey Canyon Cabins.

The Gould's occupy the sky island habitats in southern Arizona. Gould's turkeys are one of Arizona's two native wild turkey species. There are lots of these roaming all over Ramsey Canyon.

Jack O Lantern Mushroom - There are loads of mushrooms here during monsoon season. New species are still being found in Ramsey Canyon!

Mycology enthusiasts are amazed at what they can find during monsoon season here in Ramsey Canyon.

There are 4 different varieties of skunks here in Ramsey Canyon. Spotted, Striped, Hog Nosed and Hooded.

Ringtail Cats are elusive but are here most nights.

Coues Whitetail Deer Fawns are born in the beginning of August.

The slot canyon in Ramsey Canyon is amazing. You can access it through the Coronado National Forest off of the Hamburg Trail.

Fall colors are amazing here in the canyon. Peak colors are dependent on the monsoon and weather but usually falls around 1st week of November.

Deer are present on the property everyday!
